This sculpture is special because it comes from overlapping places.
The first place it comes from is a dream.
In the dream I tried on a necklace which was also a twig which was also a tiny pen. I looked in the mirror and I was astonished.
The second place it comes from is The Meeting Place.
The Meeting Place is an oak tree with two trunks. It grows beside the water. Some of its branches arch over land, and some of its branches arch over a lagoon. The lagoon is where fresh water mixes with ocean water.
The Meeting Place is where a family of crows taught me to go when they want to be given peanut gifts in secret and safety.
The third place the sculpture comes from is my studio.
That’s where I made the mold of the fallen twig from The Meeting Place, and in try after delicate try, where I managed to make a double of that twig, and then managed to coax that twig-double to transform itself into a pen.
