I made this pendant from the impression of a kelp frond washed ashore near Monterey, California.
Before it tumbled onto the sand it was growing like WHOAH. As kelp does. It can grow up to two feet a day when it's surrounded by everything it needs.
Did you know that when sea otters want to nap they wrap themselves in kelp so that they don't float away? Like a blankie that is also a seatbelt.
